Campbell vs. Doggett Wrap-Up: Inept Media Coverage, Tone-Deaf Victory Speeches, and 2012

How bad was the Election Night coverage in Central Texas for the congressional race between Lloyd Doggett and Dr. Donna Campbell? It was difficult to even find the results scrolling across the TV screens of many Austin affiliates. They would go through every statewide race, the Texas congressional districts, some of the national races, and then move into bond proposals before going back to the Governor's race. Halfway through the evening, the Austin-American Statesman tweeted that Doggett had moved ahead 66 to 32%. Only problem was this data only included Travis County. A few minutes later, the local Fox 7 affiliate reported the same erroneous numbers. They even put a graphic on the screen. So much for competent and unbiased journalism.

Lloyd Doggett eventually prevailed 53% to 45%, but couldn't announce the victory until almost 11 pm. Consider this a nail-biter given his history in the district, where he usually wins by a 30 plus point margin.

But if Election Night coverage of a tight race (predicted here from the beginning) was underwhelming, the media coverage leading up to the election was just as nonexistent. In doing a search of the Austin-American Statesman and Donna Campbell, one is lucky to come up with three or four articles. That's over the entire campaign, absolutely pathetic coverage for a pivotal race by a major city newspaper.

One of the articles actually wasted time fact-checking a single line from a thirty minute speech where Donna Campbell called Mr. Doggett, "the most liberal congressman in Washington." I believe that's called puffery, hardly intentional deception and hardly worth a fact-check, but leave it to the Statesman to waste our time. No word yet on whether the Statesman will also be fact-checking whether Mr. Gatti's has "the best pizza in town." Later, when Doggett sent out a mailer claiming Dr. Campbell wanted to raise taxes 23%, a flier that surely did some damage to her candidacy, the Statesman was silent. Sadly, this is what passes for election coverage in a midterm. No wonder over 50% of the voters choose to stay home.

Some of the small town papers were even worse. Whoever runs the Hays Free Press falsely reported Lloyd Doggett voted against the stimulus bill. Getting easy-to-verify facts correct should be the essential duty of any news provider, but the Free Press folks clearly prioritize ideology over being a trusted news source. Hopefully, area residents don't rely on that paper for too much information. They regularly dedicated pages to shamefully promote Mr. Doggett's local appearances, but failed to give Donna Campbell so much as a sentence of coverage.

Surprisingly enough, some of the more reliable reporting in this race came from the Austin Chronicle. Even I'm shocked by this revelation, considering the leftist perspective of the alternative weekly (I don't see how you actually label yourself alternative when you parrot the same old talking points of the majority of Travis County libs - wouldn't a true alternative present viewpoints that weren't in the Austin mainstream?) Still, Lee Nichols should be commended for being a better reporter than his brethren at the Austin-American Statesman or any of the local news channels.

Speaking of which, while I got one or two details wrong digging inside the numbers of District 25, Lee should admit that my analysis of the competitiveness of the race was dead-on. I never promised a win for Dr. Campbell, but I was one of the few who realized she could pull off an upset with a strong rural and suburban showing. Another 10% turnout in Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell Counties, a one to two percent shift in the Travis County results, and this race could have gone the other way. And now I'm nitpicking, Lee, but you shouldn't have let Lloyd Doggett get away with the whole "I voted against the bailouts" thing. Doggett voted against one bailout - as in singular, not plural - the TARP. That was over two years ago. Then he voted for the financial reform bill which actually makes "too big to fail" the permanent policy of our federal government with no further TARP votes ever required.

As it turns out, we got a very exciting race in Central Texas. Now for redistricting! Lloyd Doggett should probably just be handed downtown and east Austin. His legislative record is dismal given the 16 (and now 18) years he's served in Washington. Very few legislative accomplishments, too much debt and expansion of government, a complete dismissal of the trouble social security and Medicare are in... yet still Austin treats this public servant millionaire like their favorite son. Must be those earmarks he keeps sending back for hiking trails.

As for Dr. Campbell, my sources say she is seriously considering a 2012 run - and perhaps in a newly created Central Texas district where she doesn't have to go up against the media-coddled Doggett. Although who could complain if they faced off again? I just wish the political pundits in Austin would hold him to the same standard they hold Rick Perry to and call the longtime Democrat out for ducking tough questions and not debating his opponent. That's the kind of vibrant exercise in democracy all Austinites deserve, whether you are a progressive or conservative.

The kicker in all of this was Mr. Doggett's victory speech. If he learned anything from his contested race, he didn't show it. King Lloyd ripped into the tea party, once again demonizing and ostracizing a large core of his constituents, saying "we added a spoonful of sugar to their bitter brew." Later he droned on about the tea party "not having much interest in the truth." This from a guy who was too scared to run on his legislative record. If he was humbled, he didn't show it, stating his "main opponent was overconfidence."

One day even Democrats will realize they need to hold their most entrenched career politicians accountable. Until then, expect Lloyd Doggett to add to his millions of personal fortune while spending the taxpayers into oblivion. Here's hoping he's marginalized as much by the new GOP majority as he has marginalized the people of Central Texas.

Doggett's Campaign Tactics in Question as He Ducks Debate, Smears Opponent with Congressional Seat in Doubt

It's official. Lloyd Doggett did not show up to debate Dr. Donna Campbell on Friday for the congressional seat in District 25-TX. And frankly, no surprises here. Lloyd Doggett hates being challenged, questioned, and generally unappreciated for his ongoing efforts to solve all our problems with Washington spending. And now that the Cook Report has removed the seat from the Democrat's "safe" list (one of eight races suddenly up for grabs, including Barney Frank and Dennis Kucinich), he has even more reason to worry.

I ask any independent voter, why re-elect an incumbent who is so inaccessible and unwilling to stand on their own record? Has Mr. Doggett become so entrenched in the swamps of Washington, he won't even make an appearance in front of an unbiased audience and face their questions? What type of lawyer and long-serving congressman ducks a debate with a doctor who has never run for political office before?

This has been typical of Doggett's campaign against Dr. Donna Campbell, an emergency room physician and small town mom with lots of grassroots support. He has repeatedly attempted to paint her as an extremist. Yes, we should all be frightened of our scary family doctors who attend t-ball games and Halloween parades for their adopted four year old daughters. Thank God there are bureaucrats in Washington protecting us from these extremists!

We already saw Mr. Doggett flee constituents at his own town hall on Obamacare last year. We saw him bash these same constituents on national TV with Chris Mathews. We heard him call the tea parties “a bitter brew” and “mob scene.” And then to rub the voters faces in it, he admitted he would have voted for Obamacare, opposed by a nearly 2 to 1 margin in Texas, “just based on it’s opposition."

He also ran a misleading TV ad this election cycle claiming to be against bailouts, in which the business he featured actually received millions in federal stimulus (in an update, I note that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which benefitted greatly from that kickback, contributed $10,000 to Doggett's campaign this year). Reports have also surfaced of using the University of Texas official student directory to spam students with campaign materials attacking Donna Campbell (a violation of the rules and regulations of The University of Texas Board of Regents, not to mention use of taxpayer dollars for partisan purposes). This is not the behavior of a statesman so much as the personality flaw of a desperate politician.

Last Saturday, Mr. Doggett refused Dr. Donna Campbell’s invitation for a debate. She had already secured the venue and was seeking his input for a moderator, but the 16 year Democrat incumbent laughed the invitation off as her trying “to get him to come to her tea party rally.” On Friday night, he officially failed to show at the event.

Campbell has posed a serious challenge to Lloyd Doggett in a blue district where few, if any Democrats have ever been challenged. And she's doing it without mainstream political help from the Republican Party. This is a rag-tag effort made up of independent individuals, many of whom have never been involved in a political race before.

If King Lloyd really finds that kind of peaceful dissent by the people frightening, then it's clear he's no longer fit to serve his constituents. He is running only for his career. Eighteen years is obviously too long in power.

Doggett may hide until Election Day, but the voters are waiting to call him out - especially those who don't live in downtown Austin. And that's a lot of voters in District 25.

Business Featured in Doggett's "No Bailout" Ad Actually Received Millions from Government

Rep. Lloyd Doggett, the 16 year incumbent of TX-25 (including a large portion of Austin), has released his first TV ad. I guess this means he’s decided to waste money, because progressive writers keep telling me his opponent, Republican Dr. Donna Campbell, has no chance of winning. So why is the Doggett camp making heavy media buys three weeks out? It just doesn’t add up - unless you accept the fact that Rep. Doggett’s seat is in jeopardy. Trust me, it is.

But you know what else is in jeopardy? Lloyd Doggett’s credibility (or what’s left of it). In his ad, Lloyd Doggett tours a solar panel installation training facility with the president of the company, Michael Kuhn of ImagineSolar. Here’s what Mr. Kuhn has to say about the job Lloyd Doggett is doing in Washington:
“Lloyd is a champion of job creation… I can actually run a small business. I can create jobs because of Lloyd Doggett.”
Now Michael Kuhn is definitely telling the truth, but not because Lloyd Doggett supports any type of free market, pro-growth policies. No, Mr. Doggett and the government have actually funded Mr. Kuhn’s private company to the tune of millions of dollars, thanks to the stimulus. ImagineSolar received some portion of a $4.8 million ARRA grant allocated through Workforce Solutions, although using resources like recovery.gov it’s hard to say exactly how much stayed with Workforce Solutions and how much Mr. Kuhn’s company received. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s the press release off the company’s own website.
AUSTIN – Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today announced nearly $100 million in green jobs training grants, as authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act). The Austin Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (AEJATC), in partnership with Workforce Solutions–Capital Area and ImagineSolar, received $4,842,424 as one of 25 projects selected nationally – and one of only three in the State of Texas.
If my congressman got my company a check for millions of dollars, I’d appear in a TV ad supporting him, too. And I imagine ImagineSolar will see more grant money from the government if Doggett is re-elected. Of course, none of this is illegal, but it's unethical and not good for free enterprise. The biggest problem is Lloyd Doggett doesn’t disclose the information. The ad doesn’t say Michael Kuhn received stimulus money, and viewers aren’t privy to the conflict of interest. That’s disingenuous. The representative from Austin should have shot his commercial elsewhere and focused on supporters not on the government dole. You could almost say Lloyd bought their support.

This is taxpayer money seized from profitable companies and small businesses and redistributed to Democratic allies and special interest groups (in this case, inefficient solar energy) who then turn around and help them get re-elected. Just wait until cap-and-trade goes through. Middle class families will be paying higher energy bills so politicians can subsidize giant corporations like BP and GE, who will “invest” in alternative energy for the kickbacks. The Democrats haven’t just created an environment that’s bad for business. They’ve doubled down on crony capitalism, and they’re using the beneficiaries like Mr. Kuhn in testimonials to try and hoodwink the American people.

You might note that the theme of the ad is “no bailouts”, and yet here he is appearing with a company that in essence received a bailout. The only bailout I’m aware of Doggett opposing is the TARP under President Bush - and that was over 2 years ago. Since then, Lloyd voted to bailout the auto companies, the teachers unions, and actually, Wall Street - since the financial reform bill amounts to a permanent bailout of the banks without the messy TARP votes.

The Austin American Statesman may want to fact check this ad again. It’s misleading.

Can Dr. Campbell Pull the Scott Brown Upset in Texas?

It’s always encouraging when a candidate demonstrates an understanding of grassroots campaigning and calls on the new media to get the word out about her candidacy. It was with just such gusto that Dr. Donna Campbell, Republican for U.S. Congress TX-25, breezed through the lobby of the Sheraton on Saturday looking for red state support. This was just minutes after giving a speech at a rally for doctors opposed to Obamacare in front of the Capitol.

And while her entry was chaotic, her enthusiasm was contagious.

Count me as someone glad to see some fight in this race, especially from an overlooked candidate in an uphill battle against one of the Democrats most established Texas politicians. Her willingness to embrace the conservative blogosphere, to connect with the voice of the people instead of the political establishment, was a breath of fresh air and exactly what our founding fathers were looking for in citizen representatives. But can Dr. Donna Campbell win? Does a conservative stand a chance against an entrenched Democrat like Doggett in a traditionally blue district?

The answer may surprise you. It certainly surprised me. I’ve looked inside the numbers, deeper than I care to look at numbers, and the congressional district Lloyd Doggett represents is a wildcard with all sorts of unpredictable factors at play. It’s far from a safe seat for Democrats in this election. In fact, this could end up being the Scott Brown victory of Texas. Here are the 10 reasons why Campbell can beat Doggett:

1) TX-25 has been redistricted and reconfigured a number of times, mostly as a Democratic stronghold, but the voter make-up in its current shape (which has only existed for four years due to a court decision in 2006) gives more influence to rural and suburban voters than traditional liberal Austinites.

2) Hays County, just south of Austin, is the second largest county in the district and voted for John McCain over Barack Obama in 2008, albeit closley. It is one of the fastest growing areas of Texas with 400% growth in the last four years. Most of this represents middle class families looking for affordable homes with good schools, which tends to make them more conservative.

3) Statewide Republican candidates have carried the district. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison won the district as recent as the last midterm, winning seven of the eight counties by an average of almost 20 percentage points. The only county she lost was Travis County, but she still garnered 43% in what is considered a liberal stronghold. Republican Lt. Governor David Dewhurst achieved similar success in 2006, garnering 44% of the Travis County vote. If Donna Campbell can hit 40% in Travis County, she will most likely win.

4) Lloyd Doggett won the 2008 election with 191,000 votes but Barack Obama was on the ticket (not to mention there was conservative backlash against Bush who couldn’t even speak at his own convention). However, Doggett only garnered 109,800 votes in the midterm election two years prior. Given the historic nature of the 2008 election and record turnout by minorities and first-time voters, I want to call Doggett’s showing in 2008 an outlier.

5) Doggett’s opponent in 2008, Republican George Morovich, received nearly 90,000 votes in a losing effort without running any ads or spending more than $30,000. Assuming the enthusiasm gap for Republicans is accurate this year and taking into account Dr. Donna Campbell’s larger advertising budget and more effective campaigning, she should be able to surpass George Morovich’s numbers (and top 100,000 easily). That puts her within striking distance.

6) Donna Campbell is kicking Lloyd Doggett’s butt on facebook. Trailing him by 1500 facebook fans just a few months ago, she has not only surpassed him, her lead has grown to nearly 400 people, showing where the energy in this campaign lies.

7) This is the worst political environment for incumbents since 1994, which is ironically the first year Lloyd Doggett was elected to Congress. It’s also a bad year to have a D next to your name, as so many Democrats’ political ads have demonstrated by omitting their affiliation. These factors will cost Doggett votes he used to take for granted.

8) Gender counts for something. Hillary won Travis County over Obama in the Democratic primary. There appears to be a gender bias here (again, see Kay Bailey Hutchison) that will help give Donna Campbell a two to three point boost.

9) Lloyd Doggett continues to make his job more difficult. He fled a town hall to bash his constituents on Hardball with Chris Mathews and just recently singled out Texas to qualify for education dollars every other state received without stipulation. Rick Perry has made this a big issue of his campaign and major newspapers have given both candidates negative press for the unnecessary political showdown that is costing Texas school children.

10) Donna Campbell is a fresh, dynamic, energetic, and likable candidate, as she demonstrated at the redstate gathering on Saturday. Lloyd Doggett is a stodgy, old, out-of-touch millionaire.

The bottom line is Dr. Campbell can score an upset in District 25 if her base turns out (and it will) and she gains 60% of independents (very manageable in this midterm). In other words, this is not the farfetched scenario political pundits would have you believe. The only reason it looks like such an upset is because the dinosaur media is assuming 14 years of voting patterns in the district when they should only be examining the last two (and giving added weight to the midterm of 2006).

Dr. Campbell will get no financial support from the party establishment (the same one that throws money away on Charlie Crist and Mike Castle), so once again it’s up to us. What conservative wouldn’t want to help the good doctor? Not to mention destroy the Democrats morale by stealing one of their “safe seats.”

Donna Campell (TX-25) Lays Out Case Against Lloyd Doggett: "Any Vote for a Democrat is a Vote to Keep Nancy Pelosi"

There aren't many people in Texas who don't want to see Rep. Lloyd Doggett retired outside of Austin (and even Austin is tiring of him). He has proven himself to be a guaranteed "yes" vote for Speaker Pelosi, his disdain for the people has been on display at town hall meetings (which he has even fled, crying to the mainstream media that his feelings were hurt), and he somehow managed to become the third richest Texan in Washington even though he has "served" almost his entire career for the "public good."

Unfortunately, the trial lawyers and unions and Soros-funded MoveOn.org crowd really push the vote out for him every election cycle. But this year he may have finally met his match. Dr. Donna Campbell is a strong candidate with grassroots support, a working mom and emergency room physician running to be our citizen representative, to listen to the people and not be listened to. Her motto? One mom can make a difference. Her main focus is to repeal ObamaCare and restore power to the people.

We all know Lloyd Doggett isn't a man of the people, based on his actions and his words. Two out of three Texans opposed ObamaCare, but Doggett admitted to the Austin Chronicle he voted for it "based just on it's opposition." And if you need more reason to remove the out-of-touch 16 year incumbent, this letter to the editor makes it's own worthwhile case.

But Donna Campbell laid out the best case against voting for any Democrat in this midterm election in a warmly-received piece posted at pajamas media:

"Even in Austin, I have a secret weapon. It’s a nine word sentence that sends shivers down the spines of independent voters and even some Democrats, contorting their face as if they just jumped into the frigid 67 degree water of our beloved Barton Springs. Those nine words are: Nancy Pelosi is third in line for the presidency.

A vote for any Democrat in U.S. Congress is a vote to keep Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House. This is the same Nancy Pelosi who said we have to pass bills before we can know what’s in them. This is the same Nancy Pelosi who said extending unemployment benefits creates jobs. And yes, this is the same Nancy Pelosi who just last week called for investigating Americans who are opposed to building the mosque at Ground Zero.

That’s not the exactly the strong defense of civil rights most Austinites expect from their elected leaders, Democrat or Republican. Should I stop to talk to one of these freedom-loving citizens, this might be a good time to remind them that our current representative, Lloyd Doggett, has voted with Speaker Pelosi 98% of the time. During his sixteen years in Washington, the national debt has increased by nearly nine trillion dollars. That makes your household’s share of money owed around $46,000. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Mr. Doggett would like to know if you prefer your tax hikes to start this year or the next."

Dr. Campbell is an energetic and passionate conservative who deserves our support. Most importantly, she's not a politican. I encourage everyone to check out her facebook page and contribute to her campaign, even if you live outside the district. It's time to repeal and replace the Al Franken of Texas.

Can Austin Go Republican? TX-25 Congressional Race Heats Up

For the first time in my lifetime, Austin (and Texas Congressional District 25) has a chance to go red. No minor feat. Not that national Republicans are putting any money into the race, although I believe they might if it's within 6 points in September (which is where I expect it to be).

Central Texas conservatives are fortunate to have a good candidate this year, a medical doctor who is running for political office for the first time out of a passionate desire to pass prosperity and liberty on to future generations. You can visit Dr. Donna Campbell's facebook page to learn more. Needless to say, she's the real deal.

Unfortunately, we have been stuck with Democrat Lloyd "Nancy's Lap" Doggett for the past 16 years, a trial lawyer turned lifelong politician. And what exactly is Lloyd's record? Since he got elected to Congress, he has helped add $8 trillion dollars to our national debt (yes, that's more than Bush and Clinton) and increased our deficit by 900% since Democrats took over Congress three and a half years ago, voting in agreement with Nancy Pelosi 98% of the time.

Doggett voted for the $900 billion dollar porkulus, for the government takeover of health care, and for cap-and-tax (which Obama's own people have admitted will add $1761 a year to the average family's energy bill.) So if you can do elementary math, and if you went to public school like me there's a chance you can't, that's at least another trillion dollars of deficit spending and who knows how much in higher taxes that we can expect in the middle of a recession should the millionaire Doggett turn out his exclusive base of Tarrytown, Hyde Park, and Travis Heights residents for one more term... but just go ahead and let him tell you he's for the little guy. Right. Kind of like Randolph and Mortimer Duke were for Eddie Murphy in Trading Places.

Actually, Democrats are for the little guy so long as they first get the chance to shrink your income, kill job opportunities, and make your existence a little more meager. Once they have established themselves as the ruling class, just so you know your proper place in the pecking order and have to depend on their entitlement schemes, well yes - then they are for the little guy. In other words, they create Big Government to make you small and your rights even smaller. Pretty neat trick, eh?

Most election cycles I would point out that we can't afford another two years of Rep. Doggett and his ultra-liberal policies. But this time we really, really can't afford another two years of Doggett, because we can barely afford President Obama. Only a Republican Congress can keep Obama in check and save his legacy, which let's face it is what they did for Bill Clinton in 1994. If I'm Obama, I'm almost rooting for this scenario. It's the only chance he has for a second term (well, that and the stubborn stupidity of Ron Paul At All Costs voters.)

Can Lloyd Doggett Lose in 2010?

If you live in or around Austin, the conventional wisdom is you are stuck with Lloyd Doggett as your Congressman. The former trial lawyer and lifelong politico (he served in the Texas Senate before running for US Congress) has been "representing" the people of Austin in Washington for 16 years now. I put "representing" in quotation marks because he fled a town hall rather than take confrontational questions from his constituents. And I can honestly say that while Austin is a liberal town, that liberalism mostly applies to social issues. We are pro-growth, pro-business, pro-development, and pro-tax relief. As a result, many businesses have moved here and our downtown has been revitalized. Yet Lloyd Doggett never met a tax cut he liked and repeatedly votes for increased government debt and spending. He also goes digging for ways to make businesses pay more taxes, thus killing jobs and causing consumer goods to increase in price. The man is a multi-millionaire and ranks as one of the richest men in Congress, but he's spent the last 20+ years in public service. Kind of makes you wonder where he gets his money from.

Most Republicans have written district 25 off and no doubt Democrats have taken victory there for granted. However, I am convinced that the district won't stay that way for long. There are several reasons I believe that Lloyd Doggett could lose in 2010 and even if he ekes out a victory, 2012 will be no cake walk either.

First of all, the district was redrawn in 2004 and now includes a heavy chunk of Austin suburbia. In fact, the towns just south of Austin have grown nearly 400% since the last election. Hayes County has exploded with growth because it's more affordable than living in Austin, and a lot of these voters are conservative.

Secondly, there is a strong anti-incumbent mood sweeping the country. Being in office 16 years makes Doggett seem like part of the problem, not the solution. He has been there while our national debt has grown out of control and unsustainable. It certainly doesn't help that Doggett votes with Speaker Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time.

Third, while he easily won in 2008, he gave up more votes to his opponent than he ever had in his previous seven elections. This opponent was not exactly formidable, ran very little advertising, got no backing from the Republican party, and spent less than $40,000 compared to $500,000 spent by Doggett.

Finally, he faces a very tough challenger this year. Dr. Donna Campbell is a formidable opponent. She has attracted the attention of many conservative groups, in and out of Texas. One group in particular is featuring her in a reality show about first-time candidates. She has already raised five times more money from individual donors than Doggett's last opponent raised. The name Campbell on the ballot in a town that gave us Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell also doesn't hurt.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have been doing some volunteer work for Dr. Campbell, but I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't think she had a chance to win. You can go to her website at www.drdonnaforcongress.com or add her on facebook. I would also suggest contacting the RCCC, RNC, HuckPAC, or SarahPAC to tell them this race is winnable and Dr. Campbell deserves her share of support and financial resources.

You Said You Wanted to See a Big Tent Party

Apparently, the RNC spent $2000 at a bondage strip club, which is kind of an oxymoron if you think about it. Is the dancer wearing a dominatrix suit or is she topless? How do you experience bondage when no touching is allowed at strip clubs (or so I've heard, I wouldn't know for sure.) Isn't the pain brought on by Obama's policies enough for you people?!

I'm not sure this is even a news story. It's not like the DNC spends all its money on gummy bears and bunny rabbits. Isn't porn pusher Larry Flynt, publisher of Penthouse, a huge Democratic supporter who fiercely campaigned against Bush? Didn't Hugh Hefner raise money for Obama in 2008? How many people know that once upon a time Barney Frank's boyfriend was busted for running a prostitution ring out of his D.C. apartment? Does anyone remember when Congressman Lloyd Doggett (TX-25) held a fundraiser at a gay bar in which donors stuffed dollar bills into the jockstrap of someone named "The Banana Queen"? I'm not even going to mention the ACORN pimp/prostitute story that no one covered but Fox News.

Has the mainstream media ever cared or blinked an eye?

That silence you hear is a resounding NO. But the lamestream media is more interested in how the RNC spends its privately raised donations than how the government (and in particular the Democrat controlled Congress) wastes our tax dollars and spends us into unsustainable debt. Unbelievable.

There's no policy analysis anymore. It's just demonize the other guy and play "gotcha" politics. Shame on us for being voyeurs of the most disgusting spectacle of all.

It is a shame that the RNC is wasting money on limos and entertainment that would be better spent on media and support for conservative candidates. That's why I recommend giving directly to the candidate instead of going through the political machine. But this shouldn't stop donations from coming in given the unpopularity of FauxbamaCare, nor will it be the end of Michael Steele.

And my apologies for the headline. I couldn't resist.
