Krauthammer Goes Off on Fox's Critics

Sometimes someone else says it better than you can. This from Charles Krauthammer on last night's All Stars:

Look, the great sin of Fox News is it broke the monopoly of the liberal media.

That's the reason why it is so wildly successful. I once said years ago that the genius of Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch is to have discovered a niche audience of American broadcast news, namely, half of the American people.

And the other consequence is that it angers the Obama administration, which is used to, particularly after last year, wall-to-wall adulation.

I mean, this is almost comical if you look at the lineup. On the one hand, in the tank are NBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, PBS, CNN and MSNBC. Some of these like MSNBC are so in the tank they need scuba gear. Some of them occasionally emerge for a breath of air, but only occasionally. And Fox stands up and refuses to bend a knee, and that's what they can't stand.

Look, CNN was patted on the head by the Obama administration as objective. CNN is an organization that a few weeks ago had a fact-checking on a "Saturday Night Live" skit that was mildly critical of Obama, but did no fact checking on wildly, grotesquely, libelous racist statements allegedly made by Rush Limbaugh which were not made by Rush Limbaugh.

…That's not a matter of sloppiness. That's a matter of ideology.

Very funny, Charles, and on point. I'm taking notes. Always learn from the masters.

  1. It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. You are reaping what he has sowed, KARMA, “Palin and simple” like his followers. Don’t we all feel better?

  2. Paul,

I read your comment the first time and I responded. Why you feel the need to repost it here verbatim is beyond me. Perhaps you need to go back to reeducation camp so they can program some new thoughts into your memory.

The fact remains that "news" organizations like CNN and the Washington Post made up quotes that Rush Limbaugh never said. They didn't feel the need to fact-check them, because they didn't care if it was true or not. It fit their agenda. That's not just lazy reporting. That's a smear campaign with the objective of intimidating those that speak out, an assault on the first amendment. If you feel that the first amendment needs to be overturned, or that it is okay to attack someone personally by making things up about them, please write back and plead your case.

Let's debate the real issue here, not just how much you dislike a conservative talk show host with whom you disagree.
